On Saturday, August 10, 2019 the SchoolStock team of over 400 volunteers descended on three locations in Burlington, NC with a unified goal… to reach out to the community to offer help, primarily in the form of backpacks of school supplies.
The Zubifi team was part of the volunteer effort at the Holly Hill Mall location where more than 2,000 backpacks were distributed. In total over 5,000 people attended the event and 2,800 backpacks were given to elementary, middle, and high school age students in the Alamance county area and Burlington community specifically.
In addition, there were over 30 community organizations that attended as “vendors” who provided free services, helpful information, and other assistance to those in attendence. These included school nurses, librarians and reading tutors, and more.
Here are a few stats for reference:
- 5,000 people in attendence
- 400 volunteers
- 30 community organizations were in attendance
- 2,800 backpacks given away
- 256 Domino’s large pizzas consumed
- 4,000 bottles of water provided
- 2,000 ice pops (it was HOT in the late morning)
We are thankful to have been a small part of this effort and look forward to helping out in the future. It was a day of great fun, outreach, and activism.
